Michael Ewart

My name is Michael Ewart and I hope you enjoy looking through the pages of my website.

This site showcases a sample of my paintings and details of where you can see more at galleries and exhibitions across the UK.

About me
I have been painting and drawing since a boy and to this day still take great pleasure from putting paint to canvas. Painting brings me joy and I hope that you can share in this when viewing my paintings throughout this site.

I was born in 1940 in the village of Felton, in Northumberland and lived there until I married in 1966. After which my wife and I moved to Ashington and started a family.

Having grown up in the Northumbria countryside, in the early years this is where I drew inspiration for my paintings and produced mainly landscapes of this beautiful county.

Now that I am retired my work has greater variation and inspiration comes from many different areas, particularly my travels through Europe. I enjoy painting figurative pieces, portraying people in everyday situations such as cafes, train stations and on the beach.

I paint exclusively in oils and I like the feel of the paint and the way I can push it around on canvas
and board.

To view samples of my work go to the ‘my paintings’ and for details of where you can see my paintings go to the ‘galleries’ page.
